Auto Scene Mode with Advanced Scene Detection
Auto Scene Mode, 4 detection functions work automatically and simultaneously to optimize your settings, making it easier than ever to take beautiful photos every time. The Auto Scene Mode includes Digital Image Stabilizer to detect hand-shake, Intelligent ISO Control to detect subject movement, Face Detection AF/AE to detect faces in the frame and Intelligent Scene Selector to detect scene conditions. Sunset Mode has been added to the Intelligent Scene Selector.
28mm Wide-angle 4x Optical Zoom Lens and 12.1-megapixel Resolution
The DMC-F3 features a 28mm wide-angle 4x optical zoom lens (35mm camera equivalent: 28-112mm). The 28mm wide-angle lens lets you easily capture large groups of people indoors or expansive architectural structures and scenes with dynamic width and rich perspective. The 4x optical zoom lens captures beautiful shots of people or landscapes with 12.1-megapixel full resolution.
Up to 7.8x Extra Optical Zoom
The Extra Optical Zoom uses the center of the CCD to further extend the powerful 4x optical zoom when a resolution of less than 12.1-megapixel is used. This extends the zoom ratio up to 7.8x (35mm camera equivalent: 218mm) for images with 3-megapixel resolution or less.
HD Movie Recording (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG Format)
The DMC-F3 can record motion pictures in high-definition (1,280 x 720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG format). The pixel mixed readout method enables bright motion-picture recording even in low-light settings. The DMC-F3 can also record stunning full-size motion pictures in WVGA (848 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) or standard motion pictures in VGA (640 x 480 pixels at 30 fps) and QVGA (320 x 240 pixels at 30 fps).
2.7-inch 230,000-dot High-resolution Intelligent LCD
The DMC-F3's large 2.7-inch LCD features high 230,000-dot resolution Intelligent LCD. It automatically adjusts the brightness in 11 steps according to shooting conditions. This LCD provides sharp, clear images in virtually all shooting situations, ranging from nighttime to bright daylight scenes. In addition, the High-angle Mode makes the display extremely easy to view from a low angle, for example, when taking photos by raising your hand upward to capture the subject over the crowd.
